Sometimes healing needs to reach a little deeper.
Ketamine Assisted EMDR Therapy™ (KA-EMDR) pairs a low, prescribed dose of ketamine with EMDR reprocessing, to gently loosen the soil and reach the roots of pain that have stayed out of reach. Offered in person and online.
Does this sound familiar?
You have done the work. Maybe you have sat with the hard memories, followed the process, and still feel a wall you cannot quite get past.
Some pain has roots that run deeper than talk, or even traditional EMDR, can reach on its own.
If your defenses have kept you safe for so long that they will not fully soften, that is not failure.
It may simply mean it is time for a different way in.
EMDR, with a little more room to go deep.
In a KA-EMDR session, you take a low, sublingual dose of ketamine that has been prescribed by a licensed medical provider, then we move into a 75 to 90 minute EMDR session with reprocessing. The ketamine helps you overcome deeply embedded protective reflexes that usually stand guard, so the reprocessing can reach memories and beliefs that have stayed protected. Think of it as a superhighway to the source.
Why ketamine helps
Research suggests a low dose softens psychological defenses, supports the brain in forming new and more adaptive patterns, and quiets the inner critic by calming the network tied to rumination.
Different from ketamine therapy alone
Unlike standalone ketamine assisted psychotherapy, KA-EMDR sessions are shorter, and integration happens within the same session and continues in the ones that follow.
KA-EMDR is a specific protocol developed in 2024 by Danielle Ciccone and Michele Topel, co-founders of the Ketamine Assisted EMDR Therapy™ Institute. You can learn more about the protocol at ketamineassistedemdr.com and on our resources page.

Is KA-EMDR a good fit for you?
Our pain can have very deeply buried roots, like a garden. Ketamine can gently loosen the soil so we can reach them. KA-EMDR may be a fit if you:
Because ketamine is involved, suitability is something we determine together, with medical oversight. It is not the right path for everyone, and that is okay.
Let's start with a free 25 minute conversation.
You can ask me anything, and I'll tell you honestly whether I think I can help. No pressure.

How a KA-EMDR session works.
Medical clearance and prescription
The ketamine is prescribed and overseen by a separate licensed medical provider specializing in ketamine. We coordinate so you are cleared and prepared before we begin.
The session
With a target already identified, most sessions run 75 to 90 minutes. You take your prescribed dose, and we move into EMDR reprocessing together.
Integration and pacing
Integration happens within the same session and continues afterward. Your schedule is completely customizable. Sessions can happen weekly, or be spread out across weeks to months based on your unique goals and needs.
KA-EMDR sessions run 75 to 90 minutes. See the Fees & Investment page for rates. The ketamine itself is prescribed and billed separately by your medical provider. I am an out-of-network provider, and can provide you a superbill for possible partial or full reimbursement for first 60 minutes, insurance plan dependent.
